WAUPOOS

We’ve come to you, Waupoos, again! What a lovely place to stay! You will find here a fabulous, down-home marina nestled in the heart of vineyards, farms, forests, and apple orchards. Waupoos (which means “rabbit” in Ojibwe) was originally the home of the Massasauga natives. Located amidst the pristine, protected waters of Prince Edward Bay, Waupoos Marina is a hidden gem right on Lake Ontario and a very popular place for sailors.

Meeting with the water quality survey team of Quinte’s Conservation Authority

Before we left Picton, we met the Quinte Conservation team, which was collecting water quality data in the Bay of Quinte. We showed team lead Jeff Polchinsky our Maestro measuring system and he was very impressed with its multi-sensors measurement capability and 750m depth rate. He showed us their survey boat and YSI measuring system, which can work only to 10m depth and exceed the permanent drift of almost all channels. We wished them a successful survey and a good day for work on water.

Picton – hidden gem of Lake Ontario

Picton is a small town located in Prince Edward County on the shore of a narrow Picton bay far from the main cruising routes. The quiet life of this town, famous for its excellent apple cider, and a few tourists and boaters in the newly renovated marina, make your stay here fabulous.
